BALTERIO: targeted productivity and automation

Balterio, renown manufacturer of laminate flooring, is an ultra-modern, fully integrated unit of the IVC group located in Vielsalm, in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes.Impressive in its production lines turning 24 on 24, the plant produces more than 16 million square meters of flooring annually.
Representing not less than 300 jobs on the same site, the Balterio-Spanolux association is an outstanding example of synergistic companies to optimize the production tool, the first producing a finished product through the MDF from the second.
The group's motto "Nothing is ever acquired" grows Balterio to continuous improvement to offer a premium product through production and storage's advanced automation .

Initially, a clear identification of "finished products" pallets was provided by two UBS APL8200 applicators. This real-time printing and label application  system has been developed and constructed to be in accordance with the SSCC Standards of application and EAN International recommendations  for pallets labeling. Highly industrial and robust, and able to dialogue with the management software of Balterio, it allows to print and apply at a high speed (1 pallet every 2 minutes) and with total reliability two A5 labels on adjacent sides of any outgoing pallet.

Quickly operational, this step was followed by the installation of a third applicator upstream in the production process. The constraint was to adapt the application of the A6 identification labels on 645mm to 1900mm-height pallets.
The UBS APL8000 ELV applicator with an elevator system able to adapt to varying heights was proposed by UP trace. Equipped with an automatic control system for barcodes readability, it ensures safe printing and adjusted placement of the right label on each pallet's top, whatever its height. An advanced technology that combines flexibility, robustness and industrial performance, for the greatest satisfaction of its users.
